On May 23, 2025, Barbara Webber filed a lawsuit in Maricopa against the dominant company Ambetter, Centene and its subsidiary from Arizona, Health Net of Arizona. The complaint accuses the company of violating state and federal law by maintaining inaccurate catalogs of suppliers and misleading clients of available care.

The claim is heavily derived from the investigation in the amount of 2024, which revealed system problems in Centene networks, including many earlier warnings from regulatory bodies in Arizona about the same fears. Despite the notification, the Health Net of Arizona did not face the fines, and the regulatory authorities did not confirm whether the corrections were ever made.

Neither Centene nor the Health Net of Arizona responded to the lawsuit or earlier applications for commentary from Propublica. The case will probably go to the jury process, and Webber’s legal team defines it as a groundbreaking challenge for practices in the industry that use patients in critical moments of needs.

The lawsuit strives for indefinite damage and aims to pull the centne responsibility for alleged neglect and deception of consumers.
