Washington – the Department of Health and Social Welfare of the United States (HHS) announced on Monday that he had removed all 17 members of the Advisory Committee for Vaccination (ACIP), citing the need to restore public trust in federal vaccine recommendations.
The huge change, directed by the secretary of HHS Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is part of a wider initiative aimed at increasing transparency, reducing conflicts of interests and adapting public health decisions with impartial scientific standards.
“Today we are prioritized to restoring public trust above any specific or anti-part program,” said Kennedy. “Society must know that impartial science – evaluated by a transparent process and isolated from conflicts of interest – presents the recommendations of our health agencies.”
This move takes place after the executive ordinance of “Restoring Gold Standard Science” by President Donald Trump, who orders the reconstruction of advisory scientists to ensure their independence from the impact of industry and political influence. HHS’s statement noted that 13 out of 17 members of the Committee were appointed in 2024 by the Biden administration, which would expand their conditions to 2028.
“It is necessary to pure sweeping to restore public confidence in learning about vaccine,” said Kennedy. “New ACIP members will prioritize public health and medicine based on evidence. The Committee will no longer function as a baking seal for industry programs regarding profits.”
The committee, which plays a key role in determining national vaccination schedules, will convene another meeting on June 25-27 at the CDC headquarters in Atlanta. According to HHS, new members are currently considered.
“The whole world once sought American health regulators to get tips, inspiration, scientific impartiality and unwavering honesty,” added Kennedy. “Public trust was eroded. Only through radical transparency and golden standard science will we regain it.”
