A breakthrough in the edition of the genes with CAS12A for modeling human diseases

Australian cancer researchers were the first to establish a new generation generation tool for modeling and interrogation of human diseases.

CAS enzymes are required to cut specific DNA or RNA sections during CRISPR experiments. CRISPR is a revolutionary tool for editing genes widely used for cancer research, which is currently in the early stages of clinical use in patients.

Scientists were also able to identify genes that led to an accelerated growth of lymphoma in the pre -clinical model using unique CRISPR mouse libraries compatible with CAS12A.

This new research contribute to a better understanding of the limitations of CRISPR technology, with the ultimate goal to make it a real option of treating cancer in patients.

Over the past decade, the most commonly used CAS enzyme, CAS9, has led to many important discoveries in medical research.
