Dr. Charles Powell goes to Washington to talk about PTSD, Hope and Healing

This summer in Washington, the national America 2025 national conference gathered an unusual coalition of health innovators, veterans, legislators and supporters under one roof to meet the most burning challenges in the field of healthcare in America. One of the most memorable voices were Dr. Charles “Charlie” Powell, MD, former commander of the Navy lieutenant, a multi -lane doctor and founder of Solo Vive, a company dealing with a holistic, intentional healing.

The address of Dr. Charlie was more than a speech; He was a man who presented a new way of looking at several very complex problems.

“Removing the uniform does not mean that the battle is over,” said Dr. Charlie in a packed room in the main place of the conference. “For many, this is the beginning of a new kind of fight.”

He spoke not only as a doctor, but also as a different veteran and survivors of trauma, losses and often quiet internal wars that occur after military service. His conversation, part of the initiative of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Make America Healthy (MAHA), was one of the most -talked moments of the conference, because it was a veteran’s voice with a doctor’s insight.

The story of Dr. Charlie is a service and transformation. After graduating from Louisian State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, he graduated from the residence of family medicine at the Maritime Hospital in Pensacola. His maritime career covered roles in Nowy Orlean, where he managed clinical services in the Navy Clinics of Care and worked as an emergency doctor.

In 2005, Dr. Charlie switched to civil medicine, but the mission remained with him. His clinical work was expanded to improve quality, compatibility and innovation in the field of healthcare. However, the challenges he saw in the face of veterans and the first rescuers, especially those who struggle with PTSD, remained at the head of his mind.

Partly his own journey forced him to do more.

“I met with darkness,” said Powell. “I lived from PTSD. I saw what was happening when the system looks next to the people who need it the most.”

In 2024, Dr. Charlie founded a Solo Vive, a multidisciplinary undertaking, which includes Vive Scientific, Solo Vive Studios, Saint Charlie Resorts and very anticipated healing heroes – no document was left. Each project reflects Powell’s main belief: healing must be comprehensive. Medical intervention is only one piece of the puzzle, along with the combination, dignity and finding true internal meaning.

“Healing does not happen in insulation,” emphasized Powell. “This happens in the community, in order and really seen.”

A documentary, which can become a series of reality, aims to share veterans’ stories, the first rescuers and survivors from life with PTSD. Focusing on raising real voices and breaking the stigma, Dr. Charlie hopes that the film catalyzes changes in public perception and politics.

His work is shaped not only by military service or medical training, but by paternity. As a parent of the son of special needs, he understands the daily battles that families pushed to the margins of the healthcare system are facing.

He says that his support comes from love and a deep desire to create systems in which people are not treated but supported.

“I saw what it means to overlook,” he told the participants. “And I made my life mission to make sure that no mind was left behind.”

At the Healthy America 2025 conference, the words of Dr. Charlie were Clear: Healing is not only about recovery, but about reconstruction. His presence was a powerful reminder that change often begins with those who want to tell their truth.

“The scars that we wear do not make it weaken; it is evidence that we survived. And survival is just the beginning.”

At a meeting full of optimism and innovation, Dr. Charlie Powell reminded everyone that the human heart remains the center of every health journey. His voice, based on experience and rich compassion, stood out as a lighthouse of hope and a challenge for all of us to do better, together.
